Alberta no longer calling? Why the province wants to wrench immigration control from Ottawa

Update: Nova Scotia Nominee Program and Atlantic Immigration Program 2026 Selection Priorities
For one time only, Nova Scotia widened who it will pick under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program and the Atlantic Immigration Program. The change covers people already living and working in the province whose work permits expire in 2026 or earlier and who sent an Expression of Interest by June 30, 2026. Candidates must also meet one of five conditions, such as working in a key sector, having graduated from a Nova Scotia school, living outside Halifax Regional Municipality, or earning above set hourly wages. Meeting a condition does not guarantee a nomination.
